Why this blog?

Having four decades of church experience, as both a member and pastor, I know the disappointments members often have in pastors, and have experienced the challenges as a pastor when I failed to meet church members' expectations.

So, the point of the blog is to provide thoughts, comments, musings, biblical insights and sometimes practical advice for Christian church members who want the perfect pastor but don't have one. At the same time, to offer pastors with ways to address and deal with the various expectations of church members.

The Perfect Pastor? is a new book I've written. It is an engaging story that provides biblical and practical advice for when you want the perfect pastor but don't have one. Most church members have good intentions toward their pastor. However, they often have an unrealistic understanding of what a pastor is supposed to be and do, and often are unaware of what the Bible requires of their relationship to him.
This book is a story about a fictional pastor whose name is Dan, and his family. It tells the realistic, practical, humorous, exasperating, conflicting, and rewarding real-life experiences of Dan. The biblical perspective on those experiences opens God's Word to the requirements, roles and responsibilities of every pastor, as well as the biblical obligations members have to their pastor.
This book is also designed to be a tool. As a church member you will be better equipped to choose a pastor, to relate to him and to support him. Pastors and church leaders, likewise will gain a depth of understanding for some good ways to relate to the varieties of people in your church.
